Biography

If you want to place Adalbert Gans in a certain art movement, it would be abstract art. Yet the art industry is not his home, nor his oral culture. Born in Austria with Venetian roots, he started wandering the world. He is a cosmopolitan. His frivolous restlessness means that he belongs neither here nor there and at the same time everywhere. He tore himself away from any geography or conformity and wandered the world as a charming and genteel wanderer, drinking luxuriantly from life. Constantly searching for… life, experiences, people, love, eroticism, stimuli, miracles even… Whatever it is that moves him, between the eagerness of discovery and the restless escapism, Gans has an unlimited spiritualism and love for life. Every painting or light object is a glimpse of the insight of man or of himself in which he does not shy away from imperfection. Every work he creates comes from a roaring, burning passion of creating and existing. His work is created during the working process. Starting with the raw material, he manipulates it with pipettes, brushes and ink rollers, applying paint or epoxy, removing and reapplying again and again, creating a three-dimensional illusion. His work arises, it is not invented or imagined in advance. The light objects or paintings are created layer by layer and lead the viewer to a different space experience. Adalbert uses light as an extra color that lifts the others to another level. The play between dimensions, sharp contours, shapes and abstract organic use of color creates a feeling of freedom and space, which leads the viewer to Adalbert’s no man’s land and gives him a gives a sense of the restless but intense mind and soul of Adalbert Gans.
